Things to do

Come stay a while and share with us our rich tapestry of traditions, customs and culture that are the Cook Islands way of life. Indulge in the pleasure of Pacific food – listen to the strums of the ukulele, the beat of the drums or swing with the sway of dancing hips. Discover the great outdoors and fish, snorkel, dive, paddle and swim in a brilliant blue sea. Climb the magnificent peaks lush with native vegetations and alive with song birds. Or simply stroll through the pearly sands and stop awhile to look at the twinkling sunbeams on a white crested reef. Immerse and explore.

The Boat Shed

The Boat Shed Bar and Grill serves up some of the best meals in Aitutaki with a smile from the experienced staff at the famous Popoara beach. The fine meals are served for up to 40 guests at the main Boat Shed restaurant – a wooden structure which has a comfortable balcony with a museum type setting.

The spacious cool interior décor has walls lined with light timber and has an eclectic collection of sailing paraphernalia which sets an ocean voyage mood reminiscent of Popoara’s rich history. For a banquet of over 60 guests another 10 could be seated at the door decking, 18 in the conference room and others at the bar tables if required.

The menu is wide and varied with an emphasis on sea food and Asian influence. We also cater for large groups, wedding and conferences.

The walls are peppered with old photos from the 1800 and 1900s and with the closest ocean views guests will be treated extra during the whale season when these mammals can put on a spectacular show just off the reefs in front of the restaurant.

The Boat Shed Bar & Grill strongly support local sports groups particularly in the boating and fishing arena with our local children and is the head quarters for the Aitutaki Sailing Club and a meeting point for the Vaka club.
